SAAI invited WRSA to participate in a symposium in Laingsburg on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 where chairman Gerhard Heyneke and CEO Richard York represented our members. We took to the podium along with several other speakers including Prof Duvenhage (political analyst), Dr Theo de Jager, and Prof. Llewelyn Curlewis from Pretoria University to discuss developments at WRSA and in the wildlife industry. Richard York (CEO: WRSA) delivered a presentation after which several farmers expressed interest in adding wildlife ranching to their farming operations.

Valuable ties were also forged with lawyers including Advocate Albert Murphy who handled many cased in the wildlife industry. The WRSA presentation sparked several conversations, and it was requested that WRSA host a game meat day in the regions. WRSA was among more than a hundred people present from all over the country, and we were very well received. We are confident that this was a first step that will flow into a positive future with the farming community.

WRSA wishes to express our thanks and gratitude to SAAI, the agriculture community of Laingsburg and other doners for creating this opportunity for feedback and discussion.
