The PHASA Foundation is kindly requesting you to assist completing this survey that the Foundation, in conjunction with the North West University in South Africa, under the leadership of Prof Peet van der Merwe, has launched during 2022.

Determining the socio-economic impact of hunting tourism in South Africa will contribute to showcasing the role of these game reserves/farms and hunters in the development of the country and the upliftment of people directly or indirectly involved in this sector. This forms part of a broader survey which include hunting (international hunters and local hunters), game farms and taxidermies.
The main aim of the research is to assess the socio-economic impact of hunting tourism on the private wildlife tourism industry of South Africa. The ethics clearance number for the project is N W U – 0 0 6 5 2 – 2 2 – A 4.
Please note the following:
• Your participation in this research is entirely voluntary, and you will receive no form of compensation.
• Your socio-demographic information will not be used to single you out from the sample but will instead be used as part of a collective profile of the hunting fraternity.
• The survey includes questions concerning annual turnover. Your information will remain anonymous – no personal information that can link the data to you will be asked.
• Responses from each individual will not be identified, but the results will be presented in aggregate (the group results will be presented as a whole), and no individual results will be reported.
• All data obtained is stored on a secure server at the tourism research entity (TREES) of the NWU, with only the primary researchers having access to the data.
