17 January 2024 – The Buffalo Veterinary Procedural Notice (VPN) of 01 March 2017 has been re-instated with immediate effect.
The VPN was interdicted from being used in September 2017 through an interim court order. This court order required the applicants to take specific actions, which was never done.
The Directorate Animal Health, after taking legal advice to the effect that since the applicants did not take the required actions within the given time frames, the interim order has been discharged and no longer has any effect on the 01 March 2017 Buffalo VPN.
Therefore, and with immediate effect, the Buffalo VPN of 01 March 2017 must again be used as the procedural document for the keeping and moving of buffalo.
