SURVEY TO DETERMINE NATIONAL NDF FOR BABOON AND VERVET MONKEYS

13 February 2024 – The Scientific Authority of South Africa is conducting a survey from which to determine an NDF status for baboon and vervet monkey populations across South Africa.

This is in line with the country’s responsibilities under Cites. A non-detrimental finding (NDF) is a science-based assessment that verifies whether a proposed export is detrimental to the survival of that species or not.

As ludicrous as this request may sound, please complete the 5–10-minute survey as baboons and monkeys could end up with similar export / hunting restrictions as “endangered” species due to a lack of information.
