Following the news of yet another Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in Limpopo, veterinarians, industry representatives, and farmers agree urgent, coordinated action at ground level is essential.
This workshop brings State Veterinarians (SVs), Private Veterinarians (PVs), industry, and farmers together to move beyond discussion — and into practical, solution-driven action. Therefore, fully supported by the Rural/Ruminant Veterinary Association of SA (RuVASA) and the Wildlife Group of SAVA!
Workshop objectives :
* Strengthen collaboration between State and Private Veterinarians
* Re-establish the critical role of PVs in disease management and control
* Highlight Limpopo’s importance in vaccine allocation, including buffalo, wildlife, stud, and commercial farms
* Shift from blame to leadership — problem solving starts here
* Prioritise access to sufficient, high-quality vaccine FAST
* Establish local JOCs and management teams led by local veterinarians
