Wildlife Rancher of the Year Finalist 2025
🏆WILDLIFE RANCHER OF THE YEAR FINALIST🏆 Meet Howard Knott, owner of Greater Kuduland Safaris in Limpopo - a pioneer whose journey in game ranching began back in 1971. By 1974, Howard was already shaping the future of South Africa’s safari industry and driving the success of live game auctions. Today, his 18 000 hectare ranch forms partly part of a conservancy, where kudu, impala, gemsbok, wildebeest, buffalo - and even elephant - roam freely. Hosting around 30 clients annually and delivering over 300 trophy animals a year, Greater Kuduland has become a name synonymous with excellence in wildlife ranching and sustainable hunting. As Howard himself affirms: “If you take trophy hunting or biltong hunting out of the equation, there would be no game industry. Without hunting, we won’t survive.” 👏🏽Join us in celebrating this trailblazer, and WRSA Wildlife Rancher of the Year Finalist, whose vision has shaped wildlife ranching for more than five decades! 🏆WILDLIFE RANCHER OF THE YEAR FINALIST🏆 Meet Peter & Jenny Bean, the passionate husband-and-wife team behind Schotia Safaris Private Game Reserve, a true family-owned, family-run reserve with roots that go all the way back to 1833. One of the smaller reserves, Schotia punches far above its weight - famed for its majestic lions (including their prized Cape lion) and its close connection to the giants of Addo Elephant Park right next door. The Beans live and breathe Schotia, working hands-on every single day, with up to 20–30 people involved in ranch operations, and only ever closing on Christmas Day. For the Beans, this isn’t just a business, it’s a legacy carried through generations, built on dedication, resilience, and love for the land. 👏🏽Let’s celebrate Peter (and Jenny), whose tireless commitment has made Schotia Safaris a shining example of family-driven wildlife ranching!
